Automobile

The car, the true symbol of the industrial revolution, the invention that has changed the way to be,
to live and to stir all over the world for millions of people. Before, to disposition of a little elite,
now used by wide part of the world population. See together the last thirty years
of European production with the principal characteristics and pictures of the models that have entered by now
in history of human technological evolution.

The birth of the automobile goes up to the beginnings of the XX century. There were many experiments that brought to a new concept of movement that was not tied up to the animal or human traction, therefore to an able object really to be detached from means adapted to a possible auto use. Is not possible to say that the evolution has been fast and immediate but it was articulated by slow footsteps that brought to a constant development up to our days.

In the XVII century, the Dutch physicist Christian Huygens performed some experiments on a combustion motor. Particularly, it used some dust gunpowder to feed it, and he introduced it in 1673 to the French academy of the Sciences with scarce success.

In 1785 Scottish James Watt realized the first vapor motor with a vapor room of condensation separated, that allowed to reduce the loss of vapor that was verified in to alternate of heatings and coolings of the cylinder. Some years before, in the 1769 Joseph Nicolas Cugnot, French military engeneer, conceived and built a self moving mean fed by a motor vapor bicylindric of 50.000 ccs that enlivened a wagon of well 4/5 tons, such mean was denominated "Wagon of Cugnot."

In 1856, the Italian Father Eugene Barsanti and Felice Matteucci realized a bicylindric  motor that was the first example can be considered in the world “burst motor”. Thay had put the motor in the Maria Antonia’s Railroad firm in Florence, it sufficiently transmitted a movement to regulate a scissor and to a drill.

It was the first example of application of a burst motor for driving an utensils machinery.
The particularity of this motor is due to the fact that it was fed to hydrogen.

In 1860, the Belgian inventor Jean-Joseph-Etienne Lenoir patents and builds the first internal combustion motor of history: a working thermal machine “two times” using  gas, under the theoretical profile, it crosses a thermodynamic cycle that has taken the name of “cycle Lenoir”. Four hundred ones were produced with a power of 0,5 and 8 horses.

To the 1867 Paris Universal exposure, August Otto and Eugen Langen got the gold medal for the construction of a motor very similar to the the Tuscan Barsantis and Matteucci’s one, their motor it had a 12% output and it had a great diffusion.

In 1872 the Gasmotoren Fabrik Deutz is born: Otto, Langen, Gottieh Daimler and Wilhelm Maybach produces in series the cycle motor Otto. It was a internal combustion motor, with externally commanded power on, it was able to turn the contained energy into the fuel (air / gasoline) in kinetic energy.

The following developments were all incentratis around this new motor; Maybach (together with Daimler had opened an own shop) decreased the relationship weight / power. He increased the number of turns and adopted the fuel feeding liquid.

In 1879, Carl Benz built first vehicle operated by a cycle motor Otto.

Maybach and Daimler assemble their efforts around the motor for  different uses. Benz applied his motor on a strong and stable vehicle for the transport of people more and more.

In 1890, the French Panahards and Levassor realized a
central motor vehicle and with the prepared seats "dos-à-dos", as in the "dog-cart" destined to the hunting (in this type of carriages the central vain is busy OF the cassette where lodged dogs). This vehicle had different remarkable characteristics: the motor was climbed on with the axle longitudinally prepared, the change of speed. to two only trees. it had three marches before and reverse there was the differential one, the final transmission was to chain. Antiquated it was the steering gear, analogous to that of the carriages.

From 1936, the Mercedes Benz began the production of the 540 K W29 (406 samples in version coupe and spider), the first motor car with an auto loom purely.

Six auto enterprises produce around two bystanders of the new vehicles on the world market today. In 2005 65.319 million vehicles have been produced. Of these, 40.531 million have been produced all over the world by General Motors, Toyota, Ford, Renault-Nissan Motor, Volkswagen and DaimlerChrysler on a total of around 40 enterprises.

Recent processes of concentration and formation of the auto industry, Renault has brought to the relative majority of Nissan, to a project of fusion between General Motors and Renault, to the liquidation of the productive ability of Delphi, components supplier of GM.
