Honda CR-Z Mugen
New pictures of the roundup of Mugen Honda CR-Z, the 200 horsepower hybrid concept derived from the coupe version of the Japanese and English made Mugen Euro literally “to demonstrate that hybrid cars may be nice to drive.”
Mugen mode.
According to Colin Whittamore, project leader of the CR-Z “disturbed”, the intent was to “get genuine performance at the touch of a button, but without compromising the low power version of the series.” For this reason, have kept the classic mode, Eco, Normal, plus unreleased Mugen, which – according to statements by Whittamore – would open the door of heaven, talking car, of course.

Pair robust.
The Mugen CR-Z would rely on an unspecified ICF system, which stands for Integrated Centrifugal Forced-induction, a device that would allow all the electromechanical components, including the IMA, the gas engine and the turbocharger, to work in tune. To benefit most would be the provision of care Mugen substantial even at low rpm torque, which would be the maximum of 215 Nm
As a Type R.
The benefits are obviously conditioned by the increase in power, but also dall’alleggerimento about 50 kilograms, obtained using the front hood and doors made of carbon fiber, ultra-light fitting sports seats and eliminating the rear bench. The power to weight ratio, in fact, would be 5.4 kg per horsepower, which would allow the Japanese coupe boasts acceleration worthy of a Honda Type R.
Unique.
The production of the CR-Z Mugen is not currently scheduled, but will be reconsidered depending on the response of the media and the public. The one-off which will debut officially at the Festival of Speed at Goodwood in early July, however, has cost over 150,000 pounds (170,000 euros), only for labor and materials, thus excluding the costs of development and design. If anything were to go into production, therefore, the price would depend largely on the number of specimens and the final specifications, which may not be the same.
Kits for sale.
Pending a decision to that effect and to give some satisfaction to fans of the Big H – for far too long fasting of emotions – some parts used for the CR-Z Concept Mugen can already be purchased at the sales network of Honda UK. To say, the additional equipment, the gear lever knob and the mirror cost of 1,600 pounds with the beauty, more than 1,800 euros. Wheels, suspension and exhaust system, however, require an outflow of 6,500 pounds, equivalent to more than 7,300 euros. For rear spoiler, side sills, grill and front spoiler, finally, it needs further 2,600 pounds, or about 3,000 euros.
Once upon a time the various Honda NSX, Integra and Civic Tipe-R, without forgetting the S2000. When in Tokyo believed firmly in sports cars and their role in driving the image of the big H, the list was not a cake-icing lacked a car, a technological gem that can make mouth-watering from the foot lovers heavy. When the wind has changed and the shadow of the rising sun seems to give more value to the concept of ecology and therefore focus their efforts more towards the pursuit of efficiency, rather than absolute performance.
AND ONE-OFF
So that now it becomes an expression of sportsmanship well as the CR-Z hybrid coupe, which, with its “only” 124 hp, can not make us forget entirely glorious CRX VTEC 160 hp, exit stage right twenty years ago and then replaced by an homonymous two-seater. In practice it is as if the CR-Z had the sly, with great untapped potential, and I’m also convinced the men of the English branch of the Mugen (studio sport tied hand in glove with Honda itself), that just based on the CR- Z have decided to create a custom-built. Mugen Honda CR-Z is expected as the protagonist of the Festival of Speed at Goodwood and at the moment is unique, even if it is not inconceivable that one day something like that can run on roads.
THE ENGLISH PATIENT
Care Mugen intervenes deeply, fundamentally changing all the main components. The engine, for example, not only to adopt a turbocharger but also uses different internal organs, able to better withstand more mechanical stress. The result is an increase in horsepower and torque than 50%, to a new peak of 200 hp. The job of squeezing does not ignore the presence of the IMA system, since the electric motor is still useful to increase torque at low engine speeds and helps to get a good time to 6.6 seconds in the 0-100. Most prowess, however, do not pay at the pump. Mugen Honda CR-Z always offers the driver the possibility to choose between three modes of operation, Eco, Normal and Mugen, in the first case with an average consumption of just 5.6 liters per 100 kilometers, becoming the program with more than 8 sport.
A RICH BOUNDARY
Since the eye wants its part, the Mugen Honda CR-Z looks set down by war, plus a front spoiler, a new grille, side skirts and a large oversized rear wing. A good stage presence well have 17 “wheels Mugen ever designer, who complete track has been widened. There are also a sportier trim, with adjustable shock absorbers, and a braking system enhanced with larger diameter discs and four-piston calipers . Inside, Recaro sports seats last held the bank and three additional instruments mounted on the dashboard.
